Authorities in New South Wales have arrested and charged 26-year-old Hank Sherriff and 25-year-old Anastacia Cameron following an investigation into the death of their three-week-old son, Carter Colt Sherriff. The infant was initially transported to Armidale Hospital in critical condition after emergency services were called to a home in Glen Innes in mid-July. Due to the severity of his injuries, the boy was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle, where he remained on life support for several days before passing away.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad and local police established Strike Force Maunsel to probe the circumstances leading to the child's fatal injuries. Following a forensic post-mortem examination and further inquiries, police took the parents into custody. Both Sherriff and Cameron have been charged with manslaughter. During their initial court appearances, bail was refused, and the matter has been adjourned as prosecutors compile a brief of evidence.
