The Suns are coming off a dramatic 130-125 comeback win against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, rallying from a 19-point deficit in the first quarter. Thanks to a career night from Collin Gillespie, who scored 30 points, and 24 points from Mark Williams, Phoenix improved to 31-20 and has now won four of its last six games.

On the other hand, the Warriors have struggled recently.

Golden State is reeling from a 113-94 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, a game in which it was limited to just two free throw attempts. Without Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler over the last few games, the Warriors have dropped four of their last six contests.

In the teams’ most recent meeting on Dec. 20, Golden State pulled out a thrilling win behind 28 points from Curry and 25 from Butler. With both offensive presences now sidelined, the Warriors will need to rely heavily on their depth to replace that production.

Phoenix is not fully healthy either. With Devin Booker ruled out and Jalen Green listed as questionable — he has missed the last two games with a hip contusion — the Suns will also need to lean on their depth and adopt a “next-man-up” mentality, similar to what they displayed in Portland, to secure a win.

With both teams jockeying for improved positioning in the Western Conference race, Phoenix’s resilience and recent surge give it momentum at home. Golden State, meanwhile, will need to assert its depth and find a way to get back to the free-throw line.

The Suns and Warriors tip off Thursday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m.
