Forward Jarace Walker had 13 points, guard Ben Sheppard had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists and point guard T.J. McConnell had 10 points and seven assists.

Here are three observations.

Scottie Barnes leads Raptors' third-quarter explosion

The Pacers have historically had a problem dealing with the Raptors' athleticism and length, and keeping them from scoring at will in the paint, so it was notable at halftime, they were winning a rock fight.

At the break, the Pacers held a 48-46 lead. They were shooting just 39.5% from the floor themselves (17 of 43), but the Raptors were just 17 of 39 from the floor including 5 of 14 from 3 and they turned the ball over 11 times and were at 0.97 points per possession. The Raptors only led 22-20 on points in the paint and the teams were dead-even on the glass with 22 rebounds each and in second-chance points with four each.

But when the third quarter started it was clear the game was about to change dramatically.

The Raptors opened the period on an 8-0 run and never let up. In the first six minutes of the third, they outscored the Pacers 29-8, putting more points on the board in half a period than they did in either of the first two quarters. They slowed a little in the following six minutes but still won the period 44-26, falling just short of matching their first half scoring total. They made 17 of 28 field goals to match their first-half field goal total and also hit 4 of 8 3-pointers and 6 of 6 free throws. Their 24 points in the paint in the period eclipsed their first half total on 12 of 19 shooting in the lane.

Scottie Barnes scored 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists in the third period alone when he played 9 minutes and 20 seconds. He was +23 in the period. For the game he finished with 25 points on 12 of 20 shooting with all but one of his field goals coming in the paint and most of them coming at the rim.

Trayce Jackson-Davis strong on glass in Raptors debut

Former Indiana University All-American, Center Grove High School star and 2019 Indiana Mr. Basketball Trayce Jackson-Davis played his first game with the Raptors after being traded to Toronto from the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. He gave the Raptors a good sense of ways he could help off the bench.

The Raptors have been playing without starting center Jakob Poeltl and rookie Collin Murray-Boyles went out with a thumb injury and with the Raptors building a huge second-half lead Jackson-Davis got plenty of work. He scored 10 points on 2 of 4 shooting and hit 6 of 10 free throws and also grabbed 10 rebounds in 15:31 on the floor.

Pacers crushed by injury to Johnny Furphy

The Pacers were already losing momentum in the third period and seemed to have all of their wind taken out of them when second-year forward Johnny Furphy left the floor with an apparently significant injury.

The second-year wing threw down a violent dunk with less than four minutes to go in the third quarter but landed awkwardly on his right leg and immediately collapsed to the floor, clutching the area of his right knee. He had to be carried off the floor by a staff member and injured teammate Obi Toppin. All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, still out after the Achilles tendon tear he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, followed Furphy into the tunnel where Furphy was put into a wheelchair to go back to the locker room for evaluation. Pacers public relations said he wouldn't return for the rest of the game with "right leg soreness," but it seems likely the ultimate diagnosis will be much more serious.

"We're not sure on Furphy's situation," Carlisle told media after the game. "He'll get testing tomorrow in New York and we'll see where things are."

The Pacers -- who have dealt with injuries all year and are still playing without recently acquired center Ivica Zubac and forward Kobe Brown -- had to play the rest of the game with just nine available players.
