Defense has now been the story of two Super Bowl wins for the Seattle Seahawks.
In 2013, the "Legion of Boom" unit throttled the Denver Broncos to secure the NFL's championship, displaying a dominant physicality and versatility unmatched by the rest of the league. Now, in February 2026, Seattle's defense has done it again — and this time, Drake Maye and the New England Patriots were on the receiving end.
In Super Bowl 60, Mike Macdonald's defense was smothering Maye all night, approaching the Super Bowl record for sacks by a single team.
Here's where Seattle's sack output ranked among Super Bowl performances all-time.

Most sacks in a Super Bowl
The most sacks in a Super Bowl by a single team is seven, which has been achieved four times: the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1975 season, the Chicago Bears in the 1985 season, the Denver Broncos in the 2015 season, and the Los Angeles Rams in the 2021 season. All of those teams also won their Super Bowl.
The 2025 Seattle Seahawks approached the record, putting up six sacks against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60. Initially, it appeared Seattle had tied the record — in the fourth quarter against the Patriots, Devon Witherspoon was credited with a sack before Uchenna Nwosu recovered a fumble for a touchdown. However, a stat correction turned the play into a pick-six for Nwosu, leaving the Seahawks with six sacks in Super Bowl 60.
Still, Seattle's performance ranked among the best pass-rushing performances in Super Bowl history. They joined four other teams to put up six sacks in a Super Bowl:
