Women's ice hockey is in full gear at the 2026 Winter Olympics, as the best players in the world compete for a coveted gold medal.

On the women's side, 10 countries were represented during the preliminary rounds, but not everyone will move on to the next round. Of those ten teams, eight will qualify for the quarterfinals, at which point the event will become a single-elimination knockout tournament.
While the preliminary rounds have been exciting, the real competition begins when each team is fighting to stave off elimination. Canada and the United States both entered the Olympics as heavy favorites, but the rest of the competition is looking to unseat one or both of them.

Quarterfinalists
These are the teams who qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament:
Group A:
- USA (12 points)
- Canada (6 points)
- Czechia (4 points)
- Finland (3 points)
- Switzerland (2 Points)
All five teams in this group automatically advance to the knockout stages, per the Olympic rules. Finland and Canada will close out the preliminary rounds with a game on Thursday, as second-place in the group is still up for grabs.
Group B:
- Sweden (12 points)
- Germany (8 points)
- Italy (6 points)
Japan and France were eliminated from the tournament after finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Here would be the matchups based on the current standings:
- USA vs. Italy
- Canada vs. Germany
- Czechia vs. Sweden
- Finland vs. Switzerland
