Here are the 10 teams from the Peoria area that won regional championships and advanced to sectional semifinals next week.
CLASS 1A
Brimfield
- How they won: Brimfield grabbed control early and never looked back behind Connor Doe's 35 points in a 66-37 win over Fieldcrest at the Knoxville Regional. The Indians won their first regional in 10 years.
- What's next: Brimfield (25-7) vs. Deer Creek-Mackinaw (25-6), 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Monmouth United Sectional semifinal.
Illini Bluffs
- How they won: Ninth-seed Illini Bluffs kept its season alive with a 55-46 win over host Galva. The Tigers are now sectional-bound for the fourth year a row, resetting the program record for most regionals won in a row.
- What's next: Illini Bluffs (15-18) vs. Tremont (23-10), 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Monmouth United Sectional semifinal.
Tremont
- How they won: Host Tremont got a 76-70 win over West Prairie. The Turks are regional champs for the first time in seven years and third time in the last decade.
- What's next: Tremont (23-10) vs. Illini Bluffs (15-18), 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Monmouth United Sectional semifinal.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw
- How they won: Top-seed Dee-Mack survived an upset scare from No. 5 Mendon Unity, winning 54-52 at the Rushville-Industry Regional. The Chiefs erased an eight-year drought with its first regional title since 2018.
- What's next: Dee-Mack (25-6) vs. Brimfield (25-7), 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Monmouth United Sectional semifinal.
CLASS 2A
Farmington
- How they won: Host and four-seed Farmington used 24 points from Jack Gronewold and knocked off No. 1-seed Sherrard, 72-62. The Farmers are enjoying their second trip to the sectional in five years.
- What's next: Farmington (17-13) vs. Warsaw West Hancock (25-7), 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Chillicothe Sectional semifinal.
Manual
- How they won: Top-seeded and fifth-ranked Manual had little trouble disposing of Bloomington Central Catholic, 62-29 at the Downs Tri-Valley Regional. The Rams are in the sectional for a third consecutive season.
- What's next: Manual (20-9) vs. Port Byron Riverdale (24-8), 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Chillicothe Sectional semifinal.
CLASS 3A
Morton
- How they won: Host Morton won its 21st in a row and the rubber match against fourth-seed Metamora, 55-42. The Potters, who split the Mid-Illini Conference series with Metamora, last made a sectional in 2014.
- What's next: Morton (28-4) vs. LaSalle-Peru (20-10), 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Ottawa Sectional semifinal.
East Peoria
- How they won: Illinois commit Quinton Kitt scored 37 points as East Peoria beat Peoria High, 68-57 at the Galesburg Regional and avenged a January loss. The Raiders won their first regional since 1997.
- What's next: East Peoria (29-4) vs. Kankakee (28-1), 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Ottawa Sectional semifinal.
LaSalle-Peru
- How they won: Host LaSalle-Peru beat Ottawa for the fourth time this season to win 57-53. The Cavaliers are making their third successive sectional, but haven't won one since 1993.
- What's next: LaSalle-Peru (20-1) vs. Morton (28-4), 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Ottawa Sectional semifinal.
CLASS 4A
Richwoods
- How they won: Division-I prospect Amari Smith-Holley scored 31 points and Richwoods held off a late Rock Island rally to win 72-66 at the Minooka Regional. The Knights advance to their third sectional in four years.
- What's next: Richwoods (25-7) vs. Normal Community (26-7), 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Rock Island Sectional semifinal.
