NFR enhances connectivity with extension and operation of special trains

To clear the additional rush of passengers during the festive season, the services of weekly special train no. 04654/04653 (Amritsar – New Jalpaiguri - Amritsar) has been extended to operate for another four additional trips each in both directions. The extension of this train will strengthen connectivity between northern and eastern parts of the country, facilitating smoother travel for passengers from Punjab, Bihar, West Bengal and the Northeast. Additionally, it has been decided to operate a one-way special train no. 05699 between Guwahati and Delhi help manage the heavy passenger demand between Assam and the national capital by offering extra seating and berths.

Train No. 04654 (Amritsar – New Jalpaiguri) weekly special has been extended to run on every Wednesday from 04th to 25th March, 2026, while in return direction, train no. 04653 (New Jalpaiguri - Amritsar) weekly special has been extended to run on every Friday from 06th to 27th March, 2026. This train will operate with the existing schedule of service, timings, composition and stoppages.
Similarly, one-way special train, No. 05699 (Guwahati – Delhi), will operate on 08th March 2026 (Sunday). The train will depart from Guwahati at 21:30 hours and is scheduled to reach Delhi at 13:00 hours on 10th March 2026. Enroute, it will halt at important stations including Rangiya, New Jalpaiguri, Begusarai, Chhapra, Varanasi and Prayagraj Junction, among other stoppages. The train will run with a composition of AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, Sleeper Class and General coaches for the convenience of passengers.
The operation and extension of these special train services will significantly benefit passengers by providing additional travel options and easing congestion on busy routes.
