Chelsea player calls Wrexham result an “incredible win” after extra time struggles

Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho has referred to Chelsea’s result against Wrexham as an “incredible win” last night.

It comes after The Blues being taken to extra time by the Championship side, who twice took the lead against Liam Rosenior’s side. Wrexham also had to play all of extra time and a chunk of the second half with ten men after a sending off.

Chelsea were awful all game. For me, there are no two ways about it. They got the two goals in extra time when Wrexham completely tired out, but it was FAR from an incredible performance from Chelsea and if anything, it was the dead opposite.

Of course, Chelsea fans will take the win and head into the next round of the competition. That is essentially all that matters in any game of football. But it wasn’t a very enjoyable watch at all for them – Chelsea were terrible.

Alejandro Garnacho said after the game last night:

“Incredible win. I think it was one of the hardest games of the season so far.

“We are proud, and we are in the next round. I think it was a great goal and a great pass from Dário [Essugo]. I am really happy. These games are different. You have to fight and the opposition played really good.”

In other news…

Liam Rosenior was reacting after the Wrexham win last night and he spoke about a player who he handed a start to for the first time in a long time, Romeo Lavia, who made a return to play in midfield in tonight’s game.

You can watch probably the most important game that Chelsea scored to bring them back into the game after Josh Acheampong levelled the scores with a smashed finish from close range.
