USC men’s basketball hits rock bottom with blowout home loss to UCLA
· Yahoo Sports
What are some places that you would expect to hear loud, passionate, victorious chants of, “F*** SC!”? Perhaps in the tunnels of Notre Dame Stadium, outside Autzen Stadium, or in the student section at Pauley Pavilion.
You would not expect to hear it at Galen Center, just across the street from USC’s campus. But Saturday night, as the Trojans’ men’s basketball team was embarrassed at home by crosstown rival UCLA, that was exactly the case.

Away game at home
Ahead of the game, UCLA’s NIL collective reportedly paid to bus 1,000 students across town for the matchup. Combine that with a struggling USC team that entered the contest having lost six in a row and an apathetic fan base, and the result was a home game that felt like a road game for the Trojans.
Yet another embarrassing loss
Unfortunately, the crowd was far from the most embarrassing part of the game for USC. The Trojans were run off their home floor by their crosstown rivals, falling 89-68 to UCLA for their fourth consecutive loss in the series.
Fell apart down the stretch
It has certainly been a rough few weeks for this USC team. In addition to the aforementioned losing streak that saw the Trojans fall out of NCAA Tournament contention, the team also experienced the loss of star Chad Baker-Mazara, who abruptly left the program last week.
Rock bottom
But this is rock bottom for USC. To lose to this opponent in this fashion while letting rival fans take over your home arena is a new low.
What next?
We will have plenty of time in the coming days and weeks to reflect on USC’s season as a whole. The Trojans still have a trip to the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago this week.
But simply put, this is rock bottom for USC men’s basketball. The only good news is that the only way to go from here is up.
