Chelsea’s late-game collapse against PSG more than likely has cost us not only this year’s Champions League, but it may yet have wider repercussions given some of the vibes evident in the team during the latter stages of that match.

While Liam Rosenior has tried to chalk all that up to “passion” and the team’s desire to win, he himself might also have a pretty big job on his hands now to keep the players on side and believing in his tactics and messages. Bigger names than him have lost dressing rooms with less spectacularly bad choices, so we’ll see what sort of mettle he has in terms of man management — an important, yet often overlooked facet of football management in this “tactico” era.

And unfortunately for the gaffer, it’s a massively important match coming up in the Premier League, with Newcastle coming to town and the Blues needing a win to stay in the top-five and maintain our hopes of playing Champions League football next season, too.

We do have some good news with regards to injuries, as Jamie Gittens has been declared fit and Dário Essugo is available for selection once again after not being eligible for Europe. However, Estêvão remains out, and it’s most certainly not a “minor” hamstring injury anymore for the youngster.

Choose wisely, especially in goal.
