The speedy slot receiver could immediately make an impact in a room that lost Tyreek Hill,Jaylen Waddle and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine this offseason.

Here are four things to learn about a familiar face who is returning to South Florida.

Miami-born and raised

Atwell was Miami-born and attended Miami Northwestern High School. He actually played quarterback and was named Miami-Dade County Player of the Year his senior season, and led them to a FHSAA 6A state championship before heading to the University of Louisville.

Cardinals star

Atwell spent three seasons at Louisville and totaled 140 receptions, 2,307 yards, and 21 touchdowns. His career yards per catch were 16.5, making him a bona fide big-play threat with his speed. He shares a school record for 100-yard receiving games in a season, where he logged seven in 2019. One of the other three players he shares this with is former Dolphins and Louisville legend Mark Clayton.

Superb sophomore season

In an outstanding 2019 sophomore season, Atwell was the nation’s seventh leading wide receiver in yards with 1,276, and led the Atlantic Coast Conference. He averaged 18.2 yards per reception that year and found the endzone 12 times. Those 12 touchdowns were another seasonal record for Atwell, and shared this with yet another former Miami receiver, Devante Parker.

L.A. days

The Rams selected Atwell as a second-round pick (No. 57 overall) in the 2021 NFL draft. Across his five seasons in Los Angeles, he totaled 105 receptions, 1,535 yards, five receiving touchdowns and one rushing touchdown while averaging 14.6 yards per catch. He was also on the roster for the team's Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
