The Los Angeles Lakers won their ninth consecutive game Saturday, defeating the Orlando Magic on the road behind a game-winning three-pointer from Luke Kennard.

Once again, Luka Doncic was superb for Los Angeles, finishing with 33 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals.

In his last six games, Doncic is averaging 41.7 points, eight rebounds, 7.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game, making a late surge in the MVP race.

Doncic is also nearing a career-year in points per game, averaging 33.4, only 0.5 behind the strongest season of his career, when he averaged 33.9 with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2023-24 season.

That said, Doncic's momentum looked to be stalled momentarily after picking up a technical foul in Saturday's win.

After jawing with Magic center Goga Bitadze, Doncic was assessed his 16th technical foul of the season, meaning he would be suspended for one game.

However, Los Angeles appealed this technical immediately after the game, due to Bitadze's instigation prior that went unnoticed by the officials.

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the league has rescinded Doncic's 16th technical, meaning he won't be suspended.

Considering their current form, losing Doncic for even one game could disrupt the Lakers' progress in a loaded Western Conference.

Currently, Los Angeles sits third in the standings, two and a half games ahead of the Houston Rockets.

The Lakers will have Sunday off before another road matchup Monday against the Detroit Pistons.
