Jumbo Package: Alabama faces a tall order vs Michigan
· Yahoo Sports
Happy Thursday, everyone. There are four Sweet 16 games on tonight, including a compelling battle featuring Arkansas superstar guard Darius Acuff trying his luck against 1-seed Arizona. There should be scoring aplenty in that one. Alabama fans have one more day to wait before seeing the Tide face the Michigan juggernaut. This is what Nate Oats us up against tomorrow night.
Head coach Dusty May and company are top-10 in the country in not one, not two, but NINE per-game stat categories. Here’s a look at each of them.

Michigan was killing teams early in the season, peaking with a 40-point win over eventual 3-seed Gonzaga. They have shown some vulnerability late in the season, but this is still a very tall task (pun intended.)
Alabama will still be without Aden Holloway in Chicago.
As expected, Aden Holloway didn’t travel with Alabama basketball to Chicago for its appearance in the Sweet 16.
Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats informed Jon Rothstein of Holloway’s latest status with the team on Wednesday, March 25.
The junior guard was arrested on Monday, March 16, for first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. Amid pending trials with the University Office of Student Conduct and the Tuscaloosa District Court, Holloway was suspended from team activities.
Ty Simpson further cemented himself as a Gump legend at Pro Day.
For a quarterback widely projected as a first-round pick, there was very little to gain at the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility on Wednesday, and a lot to lose. Still, Simpson chose to step out onto that field, in front of scouts from all 32 NFL teams, and throw.
Why not?
“Why not? Go have fun, go sling it,” Simpson said. “Being able to throw to Josh [Cuevas] and Germ [Germie Bernard] and those guys who I care about and who were great teammates to me is just something that I wanted to do. So I wanted to make it fun, throw to them one more time, and end it with a bang.”
Ty had nice things to say about Ryan Coleman-Williams.
Among those catching passes was Ryan Coleman-Williams. When asked what he saw from the rising junior, Simpson was optimistic.
“Did y’all see him? You tell me,” Simpson said. “You see how big he is. He’s gained so much weight. He’s growing up. You can tell he’s the big guy in the room now. I’m so happy for him and so proud of him because I know how much football and Alabama means to him. We talk all the time. He’s like a little brother. He’s gonna ball out this year, so like I said, y’all can write it down. Ryan’s going to have a really good year.”
Hopefully we get to see the best of Ryan as he puts himself back in the first round conversation.
Last, while Alabama fans are nervous about the North Carolina job opening, and the possibility that the Kansas job could follow as Bill Self ponders retirement, we can pause to point and laugh at LSU. The meddling governor is still insisting that they move heaven and earth to bring previously fired Will Wade home, and is apparently willing to hire Wade’s old boss at McNeese State in order to do it.
Will Wade met with NC State officials Wednesday to discuss reports around a possible return to LSU, source confirms.

NC State is expected to make a competitive offer within 24 hours to keep Wade in Raleigh.
Can confirm LSU is working to bring McNeese AD Heath Schroyer to Baton…
The way LSU is desperation spending, it sounds like it will be another light Christmas at the children’s hospital.
That’s about it for now. Have a great day.
Roll Tide.
