The New York Yankees' pitchers sure were ready for the 2026 MLB regular season to start.

They pitched a shutout in game one against the San Francisco Giants. Then they doubled down in game two with another zero for the entire ballgame.

In game three, they went two frames more, making it 20 consecutive scoreless innings to begin the season before allowing a run.

The previous franchise record was set in 1908, when the Yankees were still known as the Highlanders. That was an 18-inning streak, according to NY Yankees Stats.

This is how the streak of 20 innings worked this year:

  • Max Fried 6.1 IP
  • Jake Bird 0.2 IP
  • Brett Headrick 1.0 IP
  • Camilo Doval 1.0 IP
  • Cam Schlittler 5.1 IP
  • Fernando Cruz 0.2 IP
  • Tim Hill 1.0 IP
  • Camilo Doval 1.0 IP
  • David Bednar 1.0 IP
  • Will Warren 2.0 IP

The Giants scored in the bottom of the third inning on Saturday when Matt Chapman singled to bring home Jung Hoo Lee.

The Yankees held San Francisco scoreless from there for a 3-1 win, meaning it's just one run allowed through three games.

Headrick, Bird, Hill and Bednar all had scoreless outings out of the bullpen on Saturday to keep their ERAs at 0.00. Everyone on the Yankees' staff has that mark right now aside from Warren, who went 4.1 innings and allowed that lone run (2.08 ERA).

The Yankees were expected to have improved pitching this season, in part because health seemed to be on the good side to begin the campaign.

If they keep dealing like this, they'll be really, really tough to beat.
