The buzz began after reports surfaced about a certification issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) dated March 31, 2026. According to these reports, the certificate reportedly mentions a 450-minute-long director’s cut that merges the two films, Dhurandhar and its sequel Dhurandhar: The Revenge, into a single, continuous narrative.

However, there has been no official confirmation from the makers. When IANS attempted to reach out to the team behind the film, they were unavailable for comment. Reports also indicated that the circulating reports may not be entirely accurate.

A source close to the development told IANS that the claims could even be an elaborate April Fool’s prank, adding to the uncertainty around the much-discussed director’s cut.

What the rumoured director’s cut may include

According to the circulating reports, the extended version reportedly stitches the two films back together to present the story as it was originally envisioned. The project was initially conceived as a single film but was later split into two parts for theatrical release due to its lengthy runtime.

The proposed director’s cut is said to run for about 450 minutes (7.5 hours) and would reportedly be screened in select theatres. The screenings are also believed to feature three intervals, English subtitles, and technical enhancements such as clearer vocal audio.

The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside a large ensemble including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera, Manav Gohil and Danish Pandor.

The first installment of the franchise, released on December 5, 2025, was also a major commercial success, crossing Rs 1,000 crore worldwide within three weeks.
