Medical Clearance

Following the fall, Lerena was transported by air ambulance to hospital for precautionary medical checks.

Despite complaining of being “a bit sore”, he was cleared by doctors after undergoing a full medical examination.

The quick response by medical teams ensured Lerena received immediate treatment after the incident.

Horse Humanely Euthanised

Tragically, Warning Light sustained severe injuries during the race and was humanely euthanised following the breakdown.

Warning Light was trained by Sean Tarry.

Champion Jockey

Lerena is one of South Africa’s most successful jockeys and the reigning national champion.

While the fall was a frightening moment for racegoers and participants, news that the experienced rider escaped serious injury will come as a relief to the racing community.
