North Carolina sophomore guard Jonathan Powell intends to enter the transfer portal.

The move would send Powell to his third program in as many seasons. In his lone year with the Tar Heels, he averaged 4.8 points and 2.4 rebounds and appeared in all 33 games off the bench, shooting 38.1% from the field. Most of his attempts came from 3-point range, where he shot 36.5%.
Powell’s efficiency climbed in ACC play, when he shot 42.4% overall and 43.5% from 3. His top performance at North Carolina came in an 80-62 win over USC Upstate on Dec. 13, when he scored a career-high 17 points.
Powell opened his college career at West Virginia, averaging 8.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 32 games, including 23 starts.

The 6-foot-6 guard is a former four-star recruit who played just one season at UNC. Began his career at West Virginia.
