Steelers Expected to Add More Than Just Aaron Rodgers at Quarterback in Near Future

The Pittsburgh Steelers enter the 2026 NFL Draft with a ton of needs on both sides of the football. If we look at what the Steelers currently have, we see a good team that can make a run with the right quarterback under center. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that Pittsburgh could go with a quarterback, wide receiver, or offensive line help in the first few rounds of the draft.
According to Brooke Pryor, the Steelers have a lot of questions to answer, but one of them might not be solved in the first round. Many are hoping that Pittsburgh goes with a quarterback early, but she noted that it isn't expected. Instead, she believes the pick will be used on a position other than quarterback, with the team still likely to add one in the later rounds.

"But just because the Steelers appear more likely to use their first-round pick on a position other than quarterback, they still could add one at some point over the three-day draft. Based on the Steelers' predraft meetings and offseason comments from new coach Mike McCarthy and Omar Khan, it seems likely the Steelers will draft a QB regardless of Rodgers' future or Will Howard’s trajectory,” she wrote.
The Aaron Rodgers situation certainly plays a factor here. However, it's also fair to note that, no matter what Rodgers decides, the Steelers will probably have to take a quarterback unless they feel very confident about Howard under center in the long term. I don't believe that's how the Steelers feel, but it's ultimately up to the front office and ownership group to decide how they want to handle the position moving forward.
