Ravens' 2026 free agency preview: Have we seen the last of Alohi Gilman?

· Yahoo Sports

The Ravens' off-season is roaring along after Eric DeCosta hired their fourth head coach in franchise history, bringing Jesse Minter back to where it all started with a five-year deal. Minter brings a high level of defensive acumen and should help ease Ravens fans' frustrations over the loss of Mike MacDonald two years ago. The Ravens will now begin the process of adding an offensive and defensive coordinator, while working out a new contract for quarterback Lamar Jackson.

We're examining Ravens free agents ahead of the March 9 legal tampering window and assessing who'll be available to Baltimore and who won't.

First up is Alohi Gilman

2025 stats

90 tackles (50 solo), one forced fumble, 9 passes defended, two run stuffs.

2025 review

Gilman started 11 games as part of Mike Minter's Chargers defense in 2024, and then started another five in 2025 before being traded to Baltimore on October 7. With Hamilton playing closer to the line of scrimmage, Gilman took on the role of coverage safety while Malaki Starks focused on the deep third.

Positional need: Moderate

Baltimore prefers to play with a third safety and could decide between Gilman and Ar'Darius Washington to pair with Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks.

The Future

Gilman is among nine free agent defenders the Ravens could lose, but he's not a high-profile free agent, and could be lured back to Baltimore on a reasonable deal with the promise of playing for Minter and continuing to play alongside former Notre Dame teammate Kyle Hamilton.
