Per the WIAA's publicly posted requests and proposals for conference realignment page, the latest proposal was amended to keep Franklin, Reagan and Sussex Hamilton in their current conference homes of the Southeast, Milwaukee City and Greater Metro conferences, respectively. Carmen South & Carmen Southeast, another current Milwaukee City Conference school, is now designated as independent of conference affiliation alongside Milwaukee Academy of Science under the latest proposal. Carmen was previously designated to join Reagan in the Southeast Conference in the proposal advanced in January.
This amended proposal from Feb. 19 will be advanced to a WIAA Board of Control meeting March 10, where the board has the authority to approve, deny or remand it back to the realignment task force.
The news comes within two weeks of public statements made by MPS officials that expressed concerns with the January version of the proposal, citing potential impacts to travel and education among other issues.
