Bucs lose versatile OL in free agency to the Dolphins

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are losing a depth piece along their offensive line as free agency continues. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Miami Dolphins have signed veteran offensive tackle Charlie Heck, who spent the 2025 season with Tampa Bay.
Heck joined the Buccaneers last offseason on a one-year deal and contributed as a starter on the offensive line from weeks 2-8 as the right tackle. After week 8, he was moved to backup left tackle and played sparingly.

During the 2025 season, Heck played 473 offensive snaps in a rotational role. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed 32 total pressures across 289 pass-blocking snaps, including three sacks and 29 hurries, while finishing with a 48.0 pass-blocking grade. These numbers show that Heck will once again be a relief lineman for his new team, the Miami Dolphins.
His ability to step in at multiple spots along the line gave Tampa Bay depth throughout a season that saw many linemen's injuries.
With Heck now heading to Miami, the Buccaneers will look to their current group of offensive linemen to fill that depth role moving forward. Tampa Bay could also explore additional free-agent or draft options to reinforce the unit's depth.
