The Boston Red Sox have a bright future, headlined by young stars all over the roster, and Alex Cora is tasked with getting the most out of them.

Cora has been a great manager for the Red Sox. He has managed the third most games in franchise history, and should end up passing Tito Francona in wins by the time his contract expires. He spoke to The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham on what could come after that.

"Honestly, we’re in a good spot," Cora told Abraham. "I think the family is happy and things here look tremendous, right? We have a bright future. The cool thing is that we’re not talking too much about the future. We’re talking about the present. That’s what I want. I get that you have to go through phases through your career and there were tough years here. But now I think everything is in place, I feel strongly about what’s going on here. We’ll see what the future holds. I think if we’re going to continue to do this as a family, there’s big decisions to come like school. Right now [his sons] are in third grade and it’s easy. But fifth grade, sixth grade, it’s different. We have to make decisions based on that. But I like it. I feel like I recharged last year. It’s not that I was miserable. But it was getting hard. But we’re making it work. We’ll see."

Cora is not focused on making a decision on his future at this very moment, but sooner or later, extension talks will come up. He discussed the process of his previous contract and the decision to make it a three-year pact.

"We made a decision on the last (contract) to keep it at three years, and there was a reason," Cora said. "I like where the team is at. It’s fun again. We have a good chance to do what that group did in ’18. They only won one, but we can get to the playoffs consistently, and that’s what you want."

Cora is 50 years old, so he has some baseball left in him if he wants to continue managing. The goal is to win another World Series, and if he can do that, there's no reason the team won't want him back.
