Monaco’s Aladji Bamba avoids injury

There were concerns that AS Monaco’s midfield options would be limited when Aladji Bamba (19) came off during their win over Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday. Those fears have now been allayed.

Bamba initially benefited from the injury crisis to make his way into the first team, but it is the academy product’s performances that have kept him in contention, despite injured players returning to contention. To date, the Frenchman has made 19 appearances in all competitions.

He started during the 2-1 win over Lyon but was forced off at half-time. There were fears that Bamba had sustained an injury that would potentially rule him out for some time. He seemed to injure his knee when falling after a duel.

He played on for several minutes after the hit but did not emerge from the tunnel after halftime. Post-match, Sébastien Pocognoli said that he “didn’t think it was much”, and L’Équipe and Nice-Matin now report that the midfielder has not sustained an injury.
