With Alejandro Balde’s future uncertain, there is a growing feeling that reinforcement in this area could be crucial for next season.

According to SPORT, the Catalan giants have drawn up a shortlist of three players who fit the sporting and tactical demands of Hansi Flick.

However, any concrete move will depend on how much room Barcelona can create in their budget through outgoing transfers.

Grimaldo the most realistic option

Alejandro Grimaldo is a name that continues to resurface in Barcelona’s plans

Grimaldo is reportedly open to making the switch to Barcelona, a factor that significantly strengthens his candidacy.

From a financial standpoint, he is also the most accessible option. With a valuation believed to be under €15 million, the deal fits comfortably within Barcelona’s current limitations.

More importantly, his attacking quality and positional intelligence make him a natural fit for Flick’s system.

Cambiaso a serious alternative

Another name gaining traction is Andrea Cambiaso.

The Juventus defender may not have been an obvious target initially, but Barcelona’s scouting team have been closely monitoring his progress over the past season.

However, the biggest obstacle remains financial. Juventus are unlikely to entertain offers below €30 million, which could complicate negotiations.

Lewis Hall is difficult to sign

The third name on Barcelona’s radar is Lewis Hall, a player who made a strong impression on the coaching staff during a recent Champions League clash.

Hall is seen as a modern full-back, and his ability to cover large areas of the pitch and contribute at both ends has made him a favourite internally.

However, this is where things become complicated.

Newcastle United are not known for selling key players easily, and with a valuation of around €30 million, any potential deal looks difficult at this stage.

Right now, what is clear is that Barcelona are actively exploring solutions for the left-back role and for that, multiple profiles are being assessed.
